If You Have Asthma, You’re Not Alone.
Brought to you by Memorial Hermann Children’s Hospital

If you have asthma, you’re not alone. Nine million kids younger than age 18 have asthma in the U.S. Luckily, there are many ways to help you have fun and control your asthma. Remember these helpful hints:
  • It’s fun to run and play outside, but if you have asthma and trouble breathing, stop and take care of yourself.
  • Take your medicine. Always follow the doctor’s orders.
  • Always keep your inhaler with you. You never know when you’ll need it.
  • Stay away from dust, certain pets, pollen, cigarette smoke or anything else that makes you feel bad.
  • Make an action plan. Talk with your parents about what to do and say when your asthma flares up away from home. Type up the plan and give it to teachers, the school nurse or any other grown-ups around you.
